The Work of British Artists, Architects and Garden Designers
Down the centuries, the British found their fortunes in Russia. They first served the Tsars as doctors, as officers of the army and navy, and from the 18th century as artists, architects and garden designers, whose lasting influence can be appreciated by visitors today.
We meet some colourful personalities, fascinating design schemes, and examine the personal connections and contacts between Russia and Britain. The speaker's personal experience of visits to Russia, and her lectures to British groups travelling to St Petersburg, adds a personal dimension and brings developments up to date.

Now a heritage consultant, and lecturer to a wide range of organisations including the National Galleries of Scotland and their Friends, and on cruises. Publications include articles in Apollo, The Burlington Magazine, Country Life and The Walpole Society’s Annual Volume; contributions to Allan Ramsay and the Search for Horace's Villa (2001), The Grand Tour and its influence (2008), Scots in London in the 18th Century: Patronage, Culture and Identity (2010), and numerous reviews.
Her book A Chasm in Time: Scottish War Art and Artists of the Twentieth Century (2014) won the Saltire Scottish History Book of the Year 2015.
