Julie, Lillian and I have met with the events organiser at Raby Castle and undertaken a 'walk through' for our visit. it will now run with slightly revised timings, as follows:

Raby Castle: Tuesday 26th September.

Arrive from 10.30 onwards. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival. Car Parking is free but there is a short walk, on the level, to the portcullis entrance. Closer parking is available for anyone with a disability sticker.

11.00 - Guided tours (in groups of 20) There is a staircase of 48 steps, some twists and turns during the tour. There are some seats available on the route. If stairs are a problem members may opt for a 'ground floor only' tour OR if numbers are sufficient we may organise a 15 minute talk about the Greek Slave sculpture. You may also take a stroll, on the level, around the terrace. There are wide vistas of the lake, park and the deer. There is also a video of the history of Raby castle to view.

12.30 Unfortunately the walled garden is currently 'off limits' for everyone as work to upgrade it is being undertaken.

1.00 - Lunch-with Prosecco- and a short speech.

the main hall is challenging and so I recommend sitting near the front if this might create a difficulty.

2.00 onwards - Leave or linger! We have to vacate the castle by 2.30 but you continue to have access to the deer park, and (possibly) the shop.

4.00 - Final departure time (or leave whenever you like)

Please note the following, and let Julie know as soon as possible:

1) any special dietary requirements

2) if you do not wish to take the full castle tour, please indicate whether

you wish the ground floor tour.

Alternatively you may listen to the fifteen minute talk about the Greek Slave sculpture, perhaps followed by a round walk on the terrace.
